What's New Back McLooney Tunes

Things are popping at McLooney Tunes in 2008:

Recently completed projects in 2007/2008 in the RudeLab with the Moncrieff/McLoone production team include:
  • The premier release of “Timeless” by The Bandanas, southern Minnesota's queens of country classics
  • “King Pens” by the very hot hip-hop group out of Eau Claire WI, Frozen Tundra
  • Two-sided single for Kat Bjelland and Katastrophy Wife (formerly Babes In Toyland) on RISH records of Australia.
  • An EP release, “Pixie and Me” by Simone Perrin, singer, actor, accordionista and star of Garrison Keillor's “Prairie Home Companion”
  • A new single from rap and reggaeton/townhall artist Jazio
  • A return recording by the fine young teen-sensation from West Salem WI, Alexa Langreck
  • Several recordings for Nancy Edstrom, Winona's great pianista and arranger
  • Mastering and graphics design for The Theatre du Mississippi's concert series compilation CD “Crack In The Wall”, including folk artists from around the world
  • And our favorite annual community project, the Winona Senior High School Winhawk Marching Band (in concert)

Currently in the works are some returning favorites and some exciting new singer/songwriters. We are looking forward to introducing these artists and their work here, and at RudeLab Records.

These include singer/songwriter Chris Kendall's second album, a new project with Trevor Marty (formerly of Mot-Mot) and Norska Blues Queen, Ruby Nordby.

We are also very excited about a new recording, “Sing N 4U” with old friend and former band-mate from Los Angeles, the great soul singer Lew Hopson, currently out of Houston, TX, with the RudeLab house musicians and guest saxophonist, David Woodford of Los Angeles.

New in the studio are singer/songwriter Paul Teerlinck, recently transplanted from Phoenix, Arizona and Winona singer/songwriter Patti Darbo.

We think all of these artists are worthy of your attention. Please keep your eye on RudeLab Records for CD release dates and sales information.

 McLooney Tunes spin-offs:
We're changing our web design business over to Winona Web Works and keeping McLooney Tunes for music production only. “WWW” can be found at www.winonawebworks.com, for details and links of our site designs.
In addition, we will be starting RudeLab Records for the purpose of promoting some of the artists here, and selling their CD's. www.rudelabrecords.com.

 Chris Kendall:
We've begun recording Chris' second CD, a new collection of great songs, filled with stories, humorand color of the Midwest. Featured musicians are Mark "Gundy" Gunderson on stand-up bass, Tom Moncrieff on dobro and guitar, and Betsy Neil on fiddle. Link to recent gig photo.
Two songs from his first CD are posted on our Artists page.

 Hip-Hop Loop Factory (the GrooveLab):
McLooney Tunes is geared up to support Hip-Hop artists by incorporating several popular Loop-based programs in the RudeLab. Fruity Loops, Reason, AcidPro, and Spectrasonics Stylus RMX are some of them. We've organized our extensive sample, loop and SFX library for making our own killer beats. Or roll your own!

 McLooney Tunes in the News:
Fleetwood Mac connection: Our own Tom Moncrieff is being featured in an extensive Q and A session at the Fleetwood Mac fan site www.fleetwoodmac.net. Topics include his involvement with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks before they joined FM and became mega-stars, learning from them in the studio, and how to avoid the big time!

McLooney Tunes was featured in the Winona Daily News in an article by Kari Knutson. In the interview she covered what we do, why we do it, and the age-old mystery "How did you guys ever end up in Winona?" Musical Couple...

 RudeLab Update:
The RudeLab has been very busy upgrading all of our computers to Custom-built Pentium 4/3GHz units with tons of ram, and larger 19" dual monitors. Also, we now are using two UAD-1 DSP cards giving us even more of those modelled vintage recording processors we love to use along with the ability to record 24 channels of 96k/24bit recording with our MOTU 24 i/o interface.
